Four basic tips for authorpreneurs

Being an authorpreneur is just as the name implies. You wear the hats of an author and an entrepreneur. Here are some key tips to succeed as an authorpreneur.

Promote yourself

Do not hold back on self-promotion. Leverage your platforms to get the word out about who you are. Get comfortable taking pictures or making videos that show your audience what you are up to as an author and as a person. Your readers are your fans, not just the fans of your writing. They are rooting for your success and want to be part of your story. Share with them.

Act like a businessperson

To succeed as an authorpreneur, you must apply a business mindset. If you are bad at doing business, get a manager and work with this person. Make yourself available for book signings and speaking engagements. Organise your calendar and show up consistently.

Take smart risks

Turn your books into comics, movies, or television series. Look for new platforms to share your work. Collaborate with authors of like mind. Seek corporate partnerships that work. Do not close your mind to the endless possibilities available to you.

Be creative

Try out new ways to revamp things. Turn short stories into an anthology, make a calendar, and change your book covers. Develop a new marketing plan. Take courses to hone your skills or try out a new hobby. Do not be afraid to try. The only impossible things are the things not yet tried.
