The goal of any author is to have your work purchased, read, and, to some extent, imbibed by your audience. However, in today’s world, entertainment seems to be king. This is why a lot of non-fiction authors are employing different ways to give their works the most amount of exposure. Some of these methods include using genres that are more commonly suitable for fiction. As a non-fiction author, you can apply these creative methods to your books.
Creative non-fiction is where you use a literary technique of creative writing, such as fiction and poetry, to convey your message. You don’t just give your audience facts, but situate those facts in story forms that draw on the intellectual and emotional capacity of your audience. This is not a new form of writing non-fiction, but it has become the prevalent way that most non-fiction authors gain more audience. And it works.
A few works that can easily use creative non-fiction forms are biographies, autobiographies, literary journalism, and personal essays.
Here are three ways to write creative non-fiction:
1. Personal experiences.

This is one of the best ways to write about yourself, other people, or events that would otherwise seem an overwhelming subject. Strive to convey the story or event in a more relatable and digestible form.
2. Pyramid method.

Using fiction writing methods like Freytag or the hero’s journey can make your work more interesting and give you a wider audience. This method appeals to readers who think non-fiction is all about facts and figures and nothing else.
3. Perspective.

You can give your insight when writing creative non-fiction, without being seen as forcing your opinion on your audience. Insights make people think and not just tell them what to see or think.
Creative Non-Fiction is one of the more fun and exciting ways to reach more people with the information and message your work is all about. Why don’t you try it out today?
