Everything we do in life requires some training. To become an artist, one needs to gain some artistic knowledge and skill before becoming established in the arts. And this requirement is the same for a singer, a painter, or even a doctor. It also applies to anyone wanting to become a successful writer. You will need to fine-tune your skills and learn to be an authorpreneur.
This is because an author writes for passion, pleasure, and profit. Even when one is gifted with amazing ideas or even writing skills, there will still be more things necessary to learn for growth in your chosen career.
Here are the five reasons you need training as an author:
Being an author requires more than an idea.

You don’t just need an idea, but a good idea, and even at that, it must be a marketable idea. Sometimes you have ideas that need a little reworking before they can become profitable.
Training prepares you for success.

You might have the foundational skills but lack the skill to get published. For example, learning how to structure and format a book are skills you will have to outsource or learn by attending seminars or workshops.
You need to understand the business side of writing.

Publishing is the business side of writing, and a lot of authors have no idea how to turn their passion into profit. But this doesn’t have to be your story, because there are many courses that you can take to teach you how to become an authorpreneur.
Self-publishing entails certain proficiencies.

It is a noble act for you to take on the responsibility of bringing your masterpiece to light. But a lot goes into self-publishing. And without education on these matters, your naivety, and inexperience will frustrate you.
Traditional publishing has laid out procedures and customs.

There are certain ways you are to present your book before traditional publishing houses will recognize you. But without knowing and applying these ways, you might seek their platform, only to be rejected because you lack the right knowledge.
There are so many benefits to attending annual or even quarterly coaching sessions, seminars, or workshops. And we cannot overemphasize this as you progress on your author’s journey. If you are not sure where to begin, send us an email and we will be happy to assist you. Also, consider taking the AWA What-Is-Next course (check our website Authors WIN Academy for more information).
