Three ways to find inspiration for your writing

Writers run out of inspiration for the weirdest reasons. Words seem bland, inspiration refuses to strike, or emotional issues won’t let one focus. At that moment, getting each word out seems like a chore.
Running out of inspiration is a thing, but as author H. Jackson Brown Jr once said,
Don’t waste time waiting for inspiration. Begin, and inspiration will find you.
But how do you begin?
1. Try Free Writing.
When you free-write, you put down all your thoughts without stopping to check for spelling, grammar, or any of the usual rules for writing. You simply write whatever comes to mind. The idea, though, is to begin the free-write with no topic in mind. While at it, you may then find an idea you would love to explore. That’s how it works!
2. Draw from your own story.
Inspiration is everywhere and even in unexpected places. You just have to keep your eyes open. Instead of looking too far, you can be your muse. Consider your own story. Reminiscing on some themes or events from your past life can provide a solid base for your writing. After all, we are not always entirely different from what we write about. What we write about is usually a subtle reflection of what we are. And, if you do not say it, no one may figure out it is inspired by your life.
3. Keep in tune with real life.
Real-life scenarios often inspire interesting characters. Learn to observe human dynamics in a real-world setting. You can ‘people watch’ when running errands, on the train, at a restaurant - essentially, wherever you are. Make notes on what you see and hear without being sneaky. Avoid making your characters flawless and one-dimensional, as that is not realistic. It can also irritate or bore the reader.
You can find inspiration any and everywhere if only we look out for it. Hope these tips help.
