You must have heard the sayings,
'You must read to write.’
And,
‘Every writer is a reader at heart.’
This is true, but there are exceptions to this saying. You may even have the desire to read, but the time factor may prevent you from doing so. Or you just might not like reading and that is okay. However, it is important to note that you cannot be a good, or even great, author without the love of reading.
If you are a reader, it means that you are ahead. You are taking time and paying the price for knowledge and skill acquisition from the experts and also ensuring that you are on top of your game. You don’t want to stop reading because then you stop learning. Once you do that, you will not grow past the level you are currently on and you will quickly become outdated.
Here are five book types for non-fiction authors:
Books on writing.

This goes without saying because to be an author, you must know the rules on writing, especially structure and other formatting principles.
Books about publishing and marketing.

If you choose to go the traditional way of publishing, you need to know what the publishing house requires, and several books can help with this. If you are self-publishing, then you need to read all about how to self-publish effectively. The same goes for marketing, especially if you are a self-published author.
Books about social media.

This has become one of the greatest tools for marketing for authors because you can reach a wider audience. You must learn the procedures for current social media campaigns, engagement, and having a following on your different social media channels.
Books about revenue generation.

The goal of an author after writing for the expression of your passion is to make a profit. You must learn the skill of transforming your product into revenue that you can live on or supplement your regular job if being an author is not your aim.
Books that inspire you.

The best way to unwind as an author is to be inspired because sometimes you might get overwhelmed or stuck on your writing projects. Sometimes you might even draw inspiration from a book to write your masterpiece.
